Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a course offered for those who are interested in pursuing career in teaching and related fields. The B.Ed. degree is mandatory for teaching in middle schools and high schools. National Council for Teacher Education is statutory body which regulates courses in teaching in India. The students form Arts and Commerce stream are trained to teach subjects like History, Civics, Geography, Languages, Commerce etc. the students from Science stream are trained to teach subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology.
Graduation with minimum 50% marks for General and OBC category & 45% marks for SC/ST and one must pass through the entrance exam conducted by state for the year of admission. Reservation of seats is as per State Govt./University norms.

The teacher education programme leading to the Diploma in Elementary Education (D. EI. Ed) aims at preparing teachers for the elementary stage of education, that is classes I-VIII.
